Phil Cunningham's Highlands and Islands Suite
We travelled over to Glasgow today for Sunday lunch, a game of Catan, and an evening at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. We were the guests of Laura and Katharine.
My blip is of the stage taken just before the musicians - the majority of whom were from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland - took their places at the start of the concert. In the first half of the concert they performed a new piece by Phil Cunningham and John Ashton Thomas that celebrates the island of Iona. The second half was devoted to Cunningham's Highlands and Islands Suite. We all enjoyed the second half best, largely due to the variety of pieces. My two favourites brought the fiddles and clarsach centre stage.
It felt like the middle of the night when we returned to Laura's flat - so we had a midnight feast of toast, pâté, and cheese before bedtime.
Exercise today: walking (9,525 steps)
