Gypsy supper being prepared
Last evening Yusuf arrived with his car from Udaipur and we strolled around Pushkar for the last time. There was a new temple which was about to be dedicated. An enormous square bamboo and wood structure had been erected with sacred fireplaces to be used by innumerable priests for the ceremony – so much work which will be dismantled in a few days. This morning we set off for Nagaur where there will be a camel/bull/horse fair in a few days time. We stopped to look at a mongoose that had been killed on the road – such streamlined creatures – and saw chinkara deer with the stags having long spiral shaped horns and blue bull, a cotton factory, fenugreek fields. The latter are cut green and chopped and dried out on huge areas of earth – you don’t know how much earth you are eating with your food in this country! They also grow them for seed too. We stopped at a charpoy maker’s shop and photographed gypsy encampments. We are staying at the same hotel as last time and I fell asleep for 2 hours on arrival – the medicine is working and I’m feeling much better. Thanks everyone for your concern and good wishes. Terrible wifi connection again - so slow. You can join me on my journey here
