Hornophobia
Ah... peace on earth. Frostiness, low morning winter sun and turkey broth for lunch. Not a day for facing the throngs of shoppers... let alone public transport in the form of Lothian Buses.
hmmm... Mandy thought otherwise.
On the way into town we had a real mad bas***d of a bus driver. Nothing unusual there I hear you say - but the cherry on the cake was stepping off the bus and seeing the driver accelerating towards a crossing full of pedestrians blaring his horn. "Must be a stressful job" we mused - "to turn so many of them into such a**eholes."
On the way home though something struck me that I hadn't quite appreciated before.
On the first stop after we got on - 200m of princes street later- I noticed that the bell was rung a total of 7 times by different people. Quite a lot I thought. So I decided to count the number of times thence forth (we live reasonably far out on the number 44 route).
The bell was rung a further 108 times for 20 stops... Problem solved i thinks. They're being turnned into sociopaths by the bell. THE BELL. THE BELL. etc etc.
So -invent a bell that can only be rung once and we'll have well adjusted, balanced bus drivers (with sunny dispositions - slowing down gradually to allow old ladies to edge their way to the doors - allowing as many prams on buses as will fit on the bus - etc...)
Anyhoo... 20 blip points to to the person that can name the "hornophobia" link. No googling - it's just for fun ;)
