Cliff well at Holywell

EDIT:
As Freespiral has just mentioned the new International Holy Well Month challenge, I've decided to swap my 'Extra photo' of Cliff Well and move the  original blip photo of the cows to the 'Extra photos'.

I hope this will be a good start, and I hope to add some other well images in due course..

The original Blip journal entry:
I have been busier than usual today and enjoyed the sunshine and hazy views. I started doing errands in town and then went to check possible arrangements for the Community TV Awards event at Lansdown Hall. I saw several friends in passing and managed to get a good sense of what needs to be done.

Then I went to see John to find out the exact location of an old well, called Cliff Well, situated near Haresfield Beacon on the Cotswold Way, which I have heard about but never seen. We had coffee together and ended up in discussion about old trees and ruined farm buildings on the hillside opposite their house. I can see my self returning for future blips of these scenes.

I found the well and did take some pictures, although I had presumed it might be more attractive. I may go back and try using a little flash to make the scene more evocative. I have added a couple of 'Extra photos' showing the well house, which I believe was built in Victorian times, as well as the plaque on the dark interior back wall. The well was completely concreted over when the nearby houses which relied on the well for water,  became attached to the mains supply. But they left behind the winding gear and an old heavy iron railing which probably prevented people falling into the well.

I spotted the cows in a field next to John's house. The sunshine was bright and backlit the animals which were feeding on piles of hay, which the farmer must have put down for them quite recently. I do like cows. I think they were looking out at two stray dogs running across the field.
