Work in Progress
Although this may look like storm damage, it is a construction site at the Boardwalk; they are tarting up the entrance area, with a target date of May 31 for the grand opening. I can't imagine how they will get it built in such a short time, especially with all the recent storms, but luckily that is not my job! I'm always sneaking pictures through the fence, but today a couple of the chain link sections were down, so I had a clear view from the street to the ocean. That boat, which looks like it's ready to be tossed in the sea, is the Pirate Ship ride; they are working around it as they build a new gateway and ticket office. Lots of metal and huge slabs of concrete are needed to withstand the precarious location on the sand.
The waves are still strong and the tides are high. Countless huge logs and thick debris litter the narrow beach and pummel the retaining walls. There's a lot of work to do before the tourists come back.
