Lessons
Before leaving the Inle Lake area this morning, we dropped by Shwe Yaunghwe Kyaung monastery. I have seen pictures of this monastery before, usually of the novice monks posing in the unusual oval windows in the teak structure. It is now forbidden to pose the youngsters and, in any case, while we were there they were busy in a lesson. (There are basically two types of monastery, those used for meditation and those used for teaching. This is a teaching monastery.)
A group of photographers wandering in and photographing the monks in their studies must be hugely distracting, but we were followed by a large coach party, so I guess they get used to it (although I could quite understand it if they stopped people visiting, at least at certain times).
This afternoon we returned to Yangon for our final night and a farewell dinner.
(Backblipped after my return home because of the slow internet access in this part of Myanmar.)
