Lee Mount ,Shroggs Park and St Georges
On 22nd November 1872, Colonel Edward Akroyd, a leading business man and benefactor, promised to build Shrogg's Park in Halifax.The final layout of the Park featured over 60,000 trees and shrubs; a fountain basin; a handsome, ornamental drinking fountain . In April 1881, on the 23rd June, the Park was officially opened to the public.adjacent to St Georges church which was built in 1877 with money provided by Miss Moss, daughter of the Vicar of St. Mary’s Church in nearby Illingworth.
