Drum (and base!)

I travelled down to Somerleyton in Suffolk today for the first ever FolkEast festival. I was the last of our group of 11 campers to arrive on site by which time our base camp was already looking well established with a circle of tents and camper vans surrounding a central covered space for gatherings of a convivial kind.

The official music programme doesn't begin until tomorrow morning but not long after my arrival Kim set his drum up and spontaneous dancing broke out! Here's Cal dancing to the beat...

The dancing was followed by a trip to The Bell Inn at nearby St Olaves (established circa 1520 and reputedly Broadland's oldest inn) where food and refreshments were taken.

A conversation about the Michael and Mary ley lines ensued - as the Somerleyton area sits on the line which links East Anglia to Cornwall - and segued into a conversation about archangels. Folk fans, eh?!

And so to bed.

This is a back blip and will be followed by a few more festival reports (you have been warned!) - I will also be catching up with your journals over the next few days but I may need to catch up with my sleep first!
