Abstract Thursday: Celebration
Why else would the starlings flock in such great numbers if it were not for some kind of celebration?
Another visit to see the murmuration of the starlings but this time in the company of two very good friends. No fog this time and intermittent sun, so we were hopeful of seeing a display. But it was bitterly cold and we hadn't realised the impact the wind would have, not only on just how cold it would feel but also on the starling behaviour. We were beginning to think that they weren't going to show, when they started to gather in numbers, swooping and swirling but oh, so low that it was much harder to see them in the growing darkness than on previous occasions. A great spectacle nonetheless, so we came away pleased that we had made the effort.
Home again by way of the chippie, we devoured out cod and chips, accompanied by a glass of red wine, as we gradually thawed out. It's hungry work, standing on top of a dune in the bitingly cold wind!
This photo was a bit different from others I have taken and it seemed appropriate for Abstract Thursday, so it had to be my blip! Like most mages, much better seen large on the black background.
Thank you all so much for everything on recent blips!
Ann :))
