Loch Tarbert Jura

Well all thoughts of a shot of the Paps sparkling in late summer sun shine were dashed. It was very wet today and we got a right soaking. There was a brief opening in the clouds and we got this view south from the hill side we were working on down to Loch Tarbert.
This unspoiled (no fish cages in sight) sea inlet to the west coast of the island nearly splits it in two. The name Tarbert is reserved for such narrow necks of Land and the name is repeated in several places around the Highlands; Tarbert Loch Fyne, Tarbert Harris come immediately to mind.

Also the ground we had to walk on was quite unbelievably rough and difficult to traverse. Imagine an action man figure walking over egg boxes. At a distant glance it looks like wild hill side grass but this conceals tightly packed tussocks a foot high and the troughs between are full of ankle deep water.
Day two tomorrow looks like a better day going on current forecasts.
