Beans at The Centre for Learning

This year we decided to cultivate more of the factory site

1. To produce food for the Saturday morning meals for the girls who come to classes.

2. To teach them how to grow food, for life but also to do REAL practical work for their course in Agriculture, which was obviously set up by academics and has very little of a useful practical content.  We are hoping that these girls will do better that the previous generation in lessening famine situations in later life.

These are a local bean, grow very well here and use up little fertiliser.
As with everything else we will grow the nitrogen-fixing plant, Tephrosia, in between the rows.

They will be the protein in the Saturday dinners, for over 120 girls.
