Photography Is A Foreign Country

Photographing the artist’s art
is not an easy exercise.
I don’t know where to start.

Luckily, I’m an onlooker and know it’s wise
to leave the task to those well versed
in the language of photography:

Exposure, bracketing, ISO. F number,
shutter speed, exposure compensation.

The terms explode around the room
boom! boom! boom!
My brain hurts!

Very soon my concentration
begins to wane. I head off
in search of a language

I can understand;
when I find it I translate theirs into this
and hope that nothing’s lost.
