David

I took a half day today to attend - and represent my mother as well at - the commemorative service for a family friend. For all my conscious life Dr David Sim has been around. Along with three other families we were a group of friends. We met up for parties and events, often on Christmas Eve. My mother worked for a while in his surgery.

He was one of the most gentle gracious men you could meet with a deep love for Scotland, it's hills and lochs and her people. And particularly rugby.

The next generation of these family friendships (i.e. Mine ) also remain good friends and we can see the links continuing into the next generation.

David suffered from Alzheimer's in his last few years and passed away at the start of the year. Today we marked his life in the Church where he was an elder for over 40 years.

Happy memories.
