King Midas
Sometimes taking a photo of something sparks an interest in the subject. So I found some trivia about the King Midas Flour advertised on this barn. King Midas Flour was originally milled in Philadelphia. In 1914 another mill was purchased in Hastings, Minnesota along the Mississippi River where they produced hard durum wheat flour used for pasta. For many years the slogan for King Midas Flour was "The highest priced flour in America and worth all it costs". It is still produced by ConAgra Foods, based in Chicago.
This type of painted advertisements on barns was common in rural America. The article I was reading said that the 1965 Highway Beautification Act put an end to the practice. I guess big billboards are beautiful, but not painted barns.
We finally saw blue sky today after a week of clouds. It isn't going to last into tomorrow.
