Remains of Summer 2012

Walking through the garden is like looking at the calendar. While some lovely plants are breaking forth in their late summer glory with a years worth of effort, others are getting ready for their long winter nap.
It has been so dreadfully dry this year, we welcomed the few drops that we got today. The days are getting shorter and the weather has been comfortable in the mid to high 20's.
I am always very grateful to the rewards that the garden provides. Although the fall is one of my most favorite seasons, with the crispness in the air.. the smell of country wood stoves burning and the stunning colour of the maples, I also look forward to the respite that I get from the outside work.
