Emu egg!
No1 son has always loved animals and has always owned a rather diverse collection. Recently he has also become a bird fancier (feather type we hope as he is married with 2 lovely little girls Izzy and Tilly).
I digress.....anyway he has been having fun with chickens and their eggs which we help him to sell via an honesty box on our hedge (been doing this for 6 months and the money is always spot on so, Guernsey folk must be honest!)
Then, he decided to try duck eggs and now has about 6 varieties which lay beautiful eggs of various colours and sizes.....we had never tried duck eggs before but found they are really delicious.
At the moment he gets about 12 chicken and 15 duck eggs per day.
They are of course free range with lovely yellow yolks, often double and are highly sought after by our smallish customer base.
Then.....these rather large eggs appeared...beautiful mottled dark blue colour and quite a handful. (has anyone read the book series of Eragon, reminds me of the dragon eggs)
He placed 3 in an incubator, much to the delight of the Izzy and Tilly a few weeks ago and they are nearing the point of hatching. You can tell because as I took the blips, they were gently rocking back and forth, amazing!
Will keep you updated as events unfold, hopefully.
Their family have a skiing holiday booked in a few weeks so apparently we are babysitting the new arrivals....eeek!
Hope you are having a lovely weekend....we are hibernating out of the weather.
