Ambleside at dusk

SUNDAY

Lake Windermere from Waterhead, Ambleside.

The weather turned out to be much better than forecast although it's bitterly cold here with snow on the tops of the fells.

The drive here through the Dales was in brilliant sunshine. The tops of the Yorkshire Three Peaks were also covered in snow.

A late afternoon cruise on the open top deck from Ambleside to Bowness chilled us to the bone as, in the mists rolled down giving parts of the lake an eerie look.


And the occasion? We have broken the habit of a lifetime and gone away for our anniversary.
