Radio Nowhere

Following on from a blip several months ago, here's an early 21st century successor to that old stalwart of the 1960s. Until it got replaced by a digital model, this matchday favourite was the fountain of all halftime scores and stoppage time goals. Many an Albion fan will tell you stories about the 15th of May 2005, when a final-day miracle preserved our Premier League status by the slimmest of margins, and these radios were pressed to ears throughout the ground as fans waited for confirmation of other vital results going our way.

Should a situation like that recur - though I hope we'll have enough to avoid it coming to that - it'll be DAB, WiFi and smartphones guiding us through the last few minutes of tension. And in time, even they'll be superseded by a new wave of gadgetry. Is it ever worth getting nostalgic over things that so quickly become obsolete?
