Friday started cold and frosty, with the winter sun trying to make inroads into both, not very successfully however,.

I decided to take advantage of the conditions when the sun was still quite low in the sky. A walk down towards the Canal (see extra photo) and then along the towpath towards Wyndford Lock, before returning home along Doups Burn Path to Banknock and then home from there.

The early mist and frost burnt off eventually as the sun rose higher in the sky, but most of the Canal remained frozen apart from those few areas where the swans had created small oases on which to swim.

In truth, the morning walk was just about the highlight of my day.
