Mono Monday . . . Shooting from the hip
I'm out of my comfort zone having to press the shutter when I haven't composed the shot. I had a lot of disasters which is supposed to happen. There weren't many people on the streets of Richmond because it is a public holiday for Nelson's Anniversary. It commemorates the arrival of the first New Zealand Company boat to Nelson in 1842. The ship named Fifeshire, brought with it 170 passengers from Britain to Nelson. I read it on the computer must be true.
My second plan was to stroll through a park with camera on hip and snap away. Maybe lurk on a bench. After awhile I thought an ice cream was needed. I bought one at Isel House. It's an historic house built by one of Nelson's first families. They were having some type of special day for the Anniversary day. A play was being acted out inside and the room was full so this family sat outside and listened. The girls in period costume were waiting to go on. I had the camera on my lap as I ate and pressed the shutter. I promise.
The extra is the forester who went fishing today. No fish were caught but he did bring me home pony poo for the garden. I thought that was funny and in the background you can see a little of the hills we live on the side of.
Thank you Marlieske for hosting this month. I have learnt new techniques and had the fun of trying new things with my camera.
