Times change. Chestergate, East Cheshires premier department store once occupied the Primark site behind the ladies; I used to buy my Christmas presents in there 25 years ago. The Trafford Centre and the resurgence of Manchester City Centre will have soaked up the former customers spend. 

In the depths of the recent recession, Stockport held the dubious title from the Local Data Company as the town centre with the highest number of empty shops. These days, the good news for Stockport is that a massive amount of redevelopment is happening.
