Petula Clark
Very boggy slog from Pont-y-Pant over Carnedd Moel Siabod (872 m) and down to the Pen-Y-Gwrd inn which the 1953 Everest expedition used as a training base. The signatures of Tenzing Nourgay , Edmund Hilary, John Hunt and those of more recent Everset climbers are still visible on the ceiling of the bar. Among them I spotted Petula Clark's signature - better known for 'Downtown" than up mountain and Tony Bennett - presumably a stranger in paradise.
