Mr A's birthday Chez Moran

It must seem that all we do is eat!!! Well that's true! Certainly lately. Today is the actual birthday for Mr A and my son J and his wife took us out for lunch to one of his favourite restaurants which is the equivalent of the local transport cafe... Chez Moran... Brigitthe Moran does all the cooking and Monsieur Moran does all the serving.. You get what you get which was true also at the restaurant that we went to on Sunday but slightly different cooking. There are many of these cafes in France.. they serve lunch not dinner and are open on weekdays only for the workers (the artisans). If you are ever in France and you want to find a good one then just look for lots of white vans outside about 1215 .. (it is etiquette to arrive no later than 1230) and not to question what is on the menu but to eat what you get given.. and there are 5 courses!! Today it was soup with spaghetti in it... then cauliflower and crab, then chicken and small roast potatoes, followed by the cheese course of course, then dessert which was a choice of Strawberries and cream, Isle Flottante, eclair, tarte aux pommes or glace .. then coffee if you wish and with as much wine as you can drink - 13 Euros per head... !! So that was Mr A's real birthday lunch.. this birthday just goes on and on and I bought him a very special present this year - a Sony RX 100 as he wanted a compact camera as he has big cameras but wants something very portable and he is very pleased with it.. so voila .. a birthday lasting a few days and a great celebration.. it is after all officially his retirement age but he won't be retiring any time soon!! So Happy Birthday Mr A !!! xxxx

And we sat outside today as it was very warm and there were some locals on the next table and this lady has all the character of someone who has lived here all her life....
