Newcastle Downunder

Through a young girls eyes

Today was a long drive from Bekopaka to Kirindy Forest. It was essentially retracing our steps from a few days back with the two river crossings and multiple stops. What made it worse was that at least three people were still very sick from the food poisoning so it was a hard trip for them. Imodium and Noroxin got me through OK.

It was a good thing we didn't stop at the Mad Zebu for lunch because I would have missed not being able to have their delicious meals. We did stop at a village that we had stopped at on the way in taking a lot of photos of the women wearing their face masks and having their hair done. The masks are to protect them from the sun. The village was reasonably large but only shanty type houses. The people looked pretty poor and life looked hard. We caused pandemonium and mass rioting by giving away small presents such as note books, koalas, pencils and so on.

This girl had been given a notebook which you can see reflected in her eyes. I wonder what she thought of all of these strange white folk visiting her village.
