That Place Where I Fell On Me Derriere That Time

My Dear Fellow,

I was sorry to hear about your recent injury. I do hope you are feeling better. But it reminded me to take a picture at this spot on my way home.

Picture it. Stockbridge, 1995. I'm on my way home from work. I've just started on the blasted RX project and have a man with halitosis on one side of me, and a man who can't shut up on the other.

To cheer myself up, I went to John Menzies at lunchtime and picked up a "Best of the 1980's" mix tape. I've just got to "Time (Clock of the Heart)" when WHAM!

That rather steep corner turn you can see ahead of you in that picture is very hazardous when covered in ice. As I found out. It all happened so fast. One minute Boy George is singing, the next I'm flat on my back with a sore bum.

However, the worst part about it was not the bruise, but the fact that I was helped up by two little old ladies tutting over me and making sure I was all right. I was black affronted.

I can never pass this particular spot without thinking of that. I expect you will be the same with your accident spot now too. And you'll go extra cautious. I know I always do.

And I check for little old ladies too. There's injury, and then there's insult.

El P.
