Chilly life boat launch
This morning we were up and out early to go to a home education talk about the Humber Rescue Life Boat service. It is a volunteer service which covers the Humber area. I hadn't realised that, other than the Thames, rivers are not covered by the RNLI. Without the Humber Rescue volunteers, the Humber would be a far more dangerous place. Will enjoyed it more than Sam as Sam was too cold. It was 0.5 degrees according to the car thermometer and we were outside and standing around for much of the time we were there. 2 hours outside at that temperature is definitely cold! I think Sam's Reynaulds just made it worse so he had lots of visits to sit in the car with the heaters on to warm back up. He did have a look at the boats and all the gear that the volunteers wear though, and the tractor that pulls them out. William also got to clamber around the boats and watch the man giving the talk as he prepared to go out on a practice run.
