Windmills of your mind

This is Windmill Brae, an ancient thoroughfare in Aberdeen.
It was, before Union Street was opened in the early 1800's, the main way into the city, and it was a continuation of The Hardweir (Hardgate) and others from the south.
At the bottom of the road, under the Viaduct seen here, was a bridge across the Denburn.
There still is a footbridge there, in a car park, but it crosses the North railway line.

Once across you reach The Green. Another old area where once were monasteries and palaces.
