Kea

This high-altitude parrot is the bird I most wanted to see in New Zealand. We drove to Arthurs Pass to look for them, having heard the store/hotel there is a reliable spot. While I was scanning the skies and searching through the treetops, Sarah walked round to the front of the hotel. Amongst a huge crowd of noisy leather-clad bikers this bird was waddling about, oblivious to their taunts and shouts. Apparently they are always in front of the hotel if there are people there, and seem to be treated by the locals as an annoying but lovable pest.
