A day for Getting Things Done...
 
I have finally ordered the new apple trees which we decided to plant at the end of our garden. D is out there now, digging the holes and preparing the ground. I chose 6 varieties, all old Scottish ones. there are some great names in the nursery's stock list - Peasgood Nonsuch, Howgate Wonder, Lass o'cowrie, Bloody Ploughman, Galloway Pippin...

I also baked a loaf (remember the solstice sourdough?). The yeast is really vigorous and we have had some very tasty bread recently. I always bake it in this cast iron Dutch Oven which we bought in a secondhand shop almost 30 years ago..

...and I hope to finish a pair of socks and my Burns Supper speech before the day is out :-)
