The Leader of the Crowd
This is my first Dower House daffodil of the year, peering over the rim of the big Chinese pot on the patio. There are others to follow but this is the eldest sibling so to speak.
My other daffodils illegally planted down at the boundary wall are about to bloom too and will make a cheery splash of colour as I look out of the window.
I had a tub of crocuses last year which brightened the patio after the daffodils had died off, but the pesky resident squirrels had several gastronomic months of fine dining in the summer on the bulbs before I realised what was happening and put a grid over the top of the pot, but it was too little too late unfortunately, and we have no crocuses this year.
With sunshine the order of the day, His Lordship are sashaying to leafy Morningside this afternoon to pick up an order of trousers delivered to the M&S Food store there;so much more congenial than traipsing into town and battling the crowds in Princes Street.
