William Waldorf Astor and The Sussex Modernists

Not two names that seem to be connected but they came together when I visited the exhibition in the house built by Astor on the Thames embankment. When he built it in 1892 he was said to be the richest man in the world. The house is stunning and the carved staircase and stained glass windows are simply magnificent. The house is only open when there is an exhibition on and it is well worth a visit. It is free and closes in April.
