I didn't do the ironing last night - the iron blew up; the fire alarm went off causing much consternation among the neighbours. She (the iron) has been my constant ironing companion for the last 8-9 years so she has had a good innings. I have purchased her replacement today and will try it out on the ever increasing load of ironing still to do.
