a series of unfortunate ovens

Buoyed by my successful cheesecake the other week I thought I would recommence baking with some regularity. As the baking powder had to be scraped out of the bottom of the tube with a sharp spoon I did wonder if it would function properly but I wasn't expecting them to be quite so dense and flat, but was reassured by the out-of-dateness and shall not be disheartened. At least the shortbread which went in the oven first turned out fine.
