Blocking.

I'd never heard of blocking, until I started making this Nativity set.  The gown pinned to the shepherd is soaked in water after it's made.  The excess water is  then soaked up by pressing between a towel.   The damp gown is then pinned to the figure.

Once it is dry it is sewn in place.  The idea is to make the gown smoother.

It worked really well with the Three Kings I made, not so much with the different wool I used for the shepherd.  Maybe, it makes it look more rustic if it isn't perfect.
