A Day of Paralympics

Seriously busy day today. I (Chris) have spent the working day as part of an organising team running a special party to celebrate the start of the Paralympic Torch Relay. Where we work is very close to Stoke Mandeville, the 'birthplace' of the Paralympics. The weather was very kind to us and the whole event was a great success.

This evening we (Chris, Immy and Rosie) had tickets to the torch lighting event at Stoke Mandeville Stadium. Annie was there too, a volunteer helping excite the crowd! It was a great evening culminating in the arrival of the flames from Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England. They were all put in the cauldron together to light a single flame (moments after today's blip was captured). This flame will spend the next 26 hours travelling by relay to the Olympic Stadium.
