Courmayeur Mont Blanc

Father-daughter day!

I gave CC the choice of going to the climbing wall or skiing - explaining that the forecast was for snow and maybe miserable.  Bless her heart she chose skiing!!!

The passage from point A to B gave fog which turned into mist into rain into slush into huge big fluffy fakes... It was snowing so hard that the wiper blades were becoming big white wands.  I plowed the car into the parking lot which was inundated not only with snow, but with Brits and French who came over in droves from Chamonix for the 'fresh' pow-pow.  There was so much!!  I can't imagine the base is all that great having been a slow year so far, but the tree skiing at Courmayeur has a certain following that can't be denied on these occasions.  The crazies were out in mass!  Nearly knee deep fresh which had fallen overnight on top of some other fresh from the past two days.  yahoo!

Well, one run down and the second and it was already clearing.  The views of the Mont Blanc massif in your face is magic and keeps me coming back.  The blue skies didn't last long and by the time we finished lunch it was already snowing again and then near blizzard conditions.  I convinced CC to make one more run but the conditions got even worse.  The chairlift had a hard time to stay running with the high winds, and so we retreated to a hot chocolate and got off the mountain.

A good day out even if the skiing was light.  :)
