All that glitters is not gold

I am quite disturbed by gold on clothing, handbags and especially shoes. My friends know it disturbs me and makes me ask 'Why would you?'. I know many people love it and fair play to them but it is simply not for me. I went to see my lovely Aunt M last week in town and we pottered round the shops and went to see an exhibition. Good times followed by tea and cookies.
Whilst shopping she literally badgered me into buying this shirt. It is a nice shirt and only for work but as you can see it is covered in gold buttons......18 to be exact. I went into town today and bought 18 black buttons to replace the offenders. I am currently sat wishing my mum was here (she is on holiday) to sew the new black buttons on....she is faster and much neater than me. I also laughed out loud when I thought back to when I was younger and sewed a button onto a shirt and did not check where it had to go........I did not think to check where the button hole was and of course it was not sewn on in the correct place. I remember clearly my mum nearly splitting her sides with laughter and wondering how I could possibly get something so simple so wrong. Whoops.
I am resolved to do a few buttons a day to replace the nasty gold ones.
