Well Deserved

While I was cleaning the kitchen this afternoon, I noticed a Sharp-shinned Hawk (see my January 27th Blip) under the feeder plucking feathers out of a sparrow (still sadly alive).  

As I watched in horror, this little guy jumped out of the Crepe Myrtle tree and attacked the hawk.  The hawk didn't do much other than puff it's feathers and then take off with it's victim.  But at least this little guy tried to do the right thing... 

I brought some peanuts out for this brave little guy who gladly accepted his reward.  Here he is about 18" from my lens.
