I have never been 100% certain how long these take. SO ....
On the 19th sept 2016, "Orchid-1"  looked like this.
By the 3rd Nov it had advanced to here.
Two months later and the last vestiges of the old spike are still at it and the wee stalk seen on 19th Sep is within a week or so of bursting forth.
Meanwhile the so-called Christmas cactus (Schlumbergia) which was warming up to flower in the middle of November, has decided to have another go 5 months later; as a change from in 12 month's time.
DUH?!?
