2008 Monday -- Our Backyard

When we moved into our current home in southern California, we started referring to it as "The Edge of Forever" because it had such a spectacular view. Every spring the meadow behind us (which is really an old golf course that was allowed to return back to wilderness after it was flooded several times by winter rains) would transform into this spectacular carpet of green. Well, this photo is the last green spring. The meadow is actually owned by the Orange County Metropolitan Water District and they began spraying it after they decided that mowing it was either too much work or too much cost. In the 9 years since this photo was captured, the meadow has become nothing more than a dirt field.
