Position and direction

I'm struggling at the moment with which bits of the National Curriculum to follow with Sam. Much of it became ridiculous with the 2014 overhaul, but maths was one of the least affected subjects. Year 2 maths, according to the 2014 NC says that children should be able to describe position and direction using right angles, quarter turns, clockwise and anticlockwise and directions in a straight line. So today's maths saw minecraft come to the rescue! An improvised game of goodies vs baddies on a chess board met the objective very nicely. Hence today's photo.
Sam won both games. Not sure what that says about my game playing skills!
