A Butterfly in February
Today we had a leisurely day exploring Funchal. I have been here before - just briefly on a school cruise many, many years ago as a 14 year old, and then seen through the haze of the Madeira wine we were plied with. Suffice it to say I don't remember a great deal, and I suspect it has changed beyond recognition anyway. The weather has been very pleasant-sunny and just about right for walking around in short sleeves.
I took quite a range of photos, but as soon as I noticed Monarch butterflies flitting around, I knew that if one settled long enough for me to get a shot, I would have to blip it. I also got shots of lizards in one of the parks, but I suspect they may be there for another day. I really loved the street art - painted doors and murals everywhere, and I've put a rather lovely if somewhat dilapidated mural into extras.
