Smeatons Bridge

It was my aim to blip a photo of Aberdeen today where I had to shoot through after work to be interviewed by a publicity company ( it's not me that's being publicised, I like to keep a low profile.) Unfortunately when I got to Aberdeen the rain was coming down in stair rods and so it was back to glorious Perth for a shot of the bridge on my way to pick up Callum after work.
In our discovering Perth group at work we have been looking at some old video footage of the city and I noticed that the circle designs in the brickwork of the bridge were originally holes. I guess perhaps leaving them open maybe undermined the strength of the bridge when the river flooded - just a guess, I'm no structural engineer.
