Wind Turbine.
We needed a few odds and ends from Carlisle so we decided to make a day of it. Up to the garden centre a wander round and a meal. Then on into Carlisle to Staples and Maplins.
The off to Cranston's at Orton Grange for a coffee and time filling. From there we headed to Watchtree Nature Reserve in the hope of seeing the Starling murmuration. No luck.
For those who haven't heard of Watchtree it has had a chequered history being a WW11 airfield and more recently the spot picked for the mass burial of carcases during the Foot and Mouth outbreak of 2001. Now it is a very peaceful quiet spot but surprisingly with half a dozen or so of these giants. Amazingly, to me atleast they say the turbines haven't caused any appreciable damage to the wildlife.
