Peter Pan
Beautiful tactile bronze statue of Peter Pan
This bronze statue of Peter Pan in Liverpool has been climbed on for many, many years by generations of Liverpool kids.
Peter Pan stands on a bronze plinth which has lots of woodland animals (rabbits, squirrels, etc.) sculptured around it, which make ideal foot and hand holds for climbing. I feel sure that "scousers" around the world remember Peter Pan and I wouldn't mind betting that if they know it - they will have climbed on it as a child! This beautiful tactile statue "begs" children to come and at least touch the animals around the plinth.
It is strange how our minds play tricks on us. I remember the Peter Pan statue being HUGE when I was a child. He now looks much smaller than I remember. But it has been about ten or even fifteen years since I was a child.
Oops! I think I've committed a photographic cardinal sin! Peter should be looking into the frame, but I wanted to capture the greenery around him and there wasn't any on the other side. Anyway, I'm sure Peter doesn't mind.
I hope my photo error doesn't spoil the picture too much?
