Solemn Day

Today I attended the funeral of the former Bishop of this diocese who I had known quite well. He died yesterday morning, very suddenly and as is the custom in hot countries the funeral followed on quite quickly.
I do feel for his family who have had to deal with his loss very quickly and very publicly.

This magnificent vehicle is used to carry the coffin from the church to the graveside. It quite puts our black hearses into the shade. The flowers and garlands are the tributes from friends, relatives and colleagues which have been arriving at the house and the church since he died.
