The Famous Tree

I left home at 6am today for Wanaka. Why so early? To maximise my time away and to avoid foreign tourist drivers particularly between Geraldine and Fairlie (where I've some nightmare experiences with foreign drivers) and through Lindis Pass. My plan worked out well.

I've had a lovely time with some of my cousins catching and sharing food, coffee, craft beer, and fine wine. I'll need to run in the morning ;-)

Tonight cousin Bruce and I took his Dad (my uncle) down to the famous tree. Travis is 91 but you'd never know it. He wryly commented he was the oldest there.

The hint of a sunset didn't happen but it was a moody attractive setting to watch. By bedtime I was very tired and it was definitely worth it.
