Mt Ruapehu

We stayed the night in Taihape, where people enthused about the view. When we arrived we thought the view was pleasant enough but the next morning the clouds lifted to reveal Mt Ruapahe in the distance. We were fortunate to have this view because the clouds soon gathered and we didn't get much of a look at the volcano that was used for Mt Doom in the Lord of the Rings.
