Welcoming the stranger
We had a little walk around the beautiful grounds of Shepherd's Dene (a Christian retreat centre) this morning which were lightly covered in snow. This woodcarving is situated in the "Friends Garden" and provides a focal point for people seated on the wooden benches which are positioned around a campfire. I particularly liked the information sign (see extra) which makes reference to scripture and, once again, seems very relevant at the moment as MPs decide upon the fate of 3,000 Syrian refugee children.
"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it" Hebrews 13 v 2.
Returned home and found that our hard-working washing machine had packed in! Thankfully hubby was home today too and he was able to work out that the carbon brushes were worn and needed replacing. The drum is now turning again which I am so pleased about; it is music to my ears. It's been a week and a half of trials ...car collision, water-logged phone, broken memory stick, traffic jams which meant late arrival at appointments and now the washing machine. TGIF! Have a good weekend :-)
