Sheffield Steel...
...at the Winter Gardens...
As we were on a "scout hut if wet" day, we took John to a portrait exhibition, and to Sheffield on the tram.
The portrait exhibition told the story of individuals who had moved to Sheffield from all over the world since the 1940s. They were pictured in their favourite places in the locality, and also spoke eloquently on video about they way they had been made welcome in the city.
The piece I have blipped is part of one of the permanent exhibitions in the Winter Gardens, and was commissioned in 2013 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the discovery of stainless steel. It's a mathematical shape based on a Mobius Strip, which "echoes Outokumpu's logo of a never-ending circle, and emphasises the recyclable nature of stainless steel..."
An interesting afternoon, despite the bleak sky and snow flurries ;)
